Well made product. They feel heavy duty and paint looks really thick not cheap. I would buy again . Thank you. When I opened the box, paint was already coming off of the edges of the stools.. I happened to have some black paint and I was able to cover up the chipped edges but it was still pretty frustrating that paint was already coming off when they arrived. Secondly, I don’t mind assembling furniture, however, this was one of the most tedious pieces of furniture I’ve ever had to put together. The pieces didn’t fit properly and had to be forced in.Once assembled (and re-painted): they are sturdy and fairly comfortable. If the seller replaces the defective stool, I'll revise this review. The stools are attractive, and, once put together, sturdy. But they are very challenging to put together, and I had to cave in and ask my husband to work with me. We assembled two stools, but the third was defective; one part had split, and we glued it, waited 24 hours, but once we assembled it, it split again; also the pegs on two other pieces were crooked and we couldn't insert them in the holes no matter what we did. This third stool is just trash now, and we hope the seller will replace it.Love themOverall:These chairs are solidly built, with very thick, solid wood pieces. They fit together well and snugly. The "antique" black means that some of the edges are distressed and dark reddish in color. This isn't a very noticeable feature, though, and looking at it from across the room, they look straight up black. I'm a 200+ lbs man and I have no concerns about these stools handling my weight.Assembly:First, make sure you have a rubber mallet on hand, as you'll need to pounding the pieces together, as they are a tight fit and most folks won't be able to push the pieces together. The screws provided are fine, but some of the pilot holes were pre-drilled too large, so the thin screws (look like longer drywall screws) can't grab the wood. I bought some slightly thicker steel screws of the same length and those worked better. (Don't get screws that are too thick, though, or you can crack the wood. I appreciated that each chair kit included its own wood glue. It took me about half an hour apiece to assemble these. The result is a very solid stool, though 2 of 3 had a slight wobble to them (legs not perfectly cut). I'm hoping I can adjust that with some pads on the bottom.Overall, great value for the price and solidly designed outside of the screws and slight un-evenness of the legs. These are easily 25% of the cost of others I've seen and I can't imagine the more expensive ones are substantially different. I recommend them.Bought this for my daughter but she didn't open it right away it was a house warming gift from me but when she did open it many pieces were missing it was three stools but we only had one complete stool the other 2 there were pieces missing so it was worthless wasted money.these stools are great for the price. however, the pieces were not cut in a standardized fashion, making them quite difficult to assemble. in fact, one of the legs all but completely shattered when i tried to pound it into the seat. i was able to reconstruct it with wood glue and things seem to be ok, but it is definitely not ideal .Two went together rather easily, one leg didn't fit the hole well and it made the stool unbalanced. Sadly, I feel like the stools are not built well enough to handle an average size person. They tend to have a bit of a creak sound when sitting on them and leaning forward. The butt size is a bit on the small side.
